Acne Treatment to Reduce Swelling

Having acne is bad enough, but having a swolen people really takes the cake! And sadly the way people go about trying to reduce swelling of their acne is all wrong. Instead they end up with bigger swolen and red zits that look uglier by the minute, and not only that, but they get really badly infected.

So here are a few tips and treatments to reduce swelling when you have acne:

The first thing you can use is simply an ice pack over the affected area. Put the ice pack for 2-3 minutes over the pimple, but don’t apply a strong pressure, just enough for a firm contact between the cold and  your zit. Do this a couple of times within an hour and your swelling should start to be visibly smaller.

I’m sure you’ve heard about applying toothpaste over the swollen pimple. And I’m sure you’ve seen people walking around with a white spot on their faces too. And guess what, it works to reduce the redness around your swolen acne.

Also you can use a paste of sandalwood mixed with rose water, as this soothens the skin tissue and reduces the irritation, having also the added benefit of improving the texture and tone of your skin.

Tea tree oil is a strong antiseptic and if used diluted with water, it will help to reduce swelling of your acne.

And whatever you do, do not squeeze your pimple! This is the worst kind of treatment you can do to your skin. It will make it redder, more swollen and also include additional bacteria from your fingers into an already existing ugly zit.
