Acne Treatment with Home Remedies
As I mentioned in the previous article about different types of acne treatment, there are commercial treatments and home remedies. Today we will focus on various home remedies that you can safely use in treating your acne. I am saying safely, because these do not contain any chemicals, everything is natural, and most ingredients you can find around the house or at your nearby grocery store.
If you’re acne is severe, then you better take care of it using professional products, like Accutane (or Raccutane) and similar, prescribed by your doctor. However, if your acne is just merely mild or moderate, home remedies are perfectly capable in treating your acne. Some faster, some slower, but depending on your skin type, you will find some that works perfectly for you.
Aloe Vera as an acne remedy – You can use aloe vera gel that drips directly from the plant to soothen your acne and slowly eliminate it. If you have an aloe plant, particularly if it is aloe arborescens, remove a whole leaf, cut a slit down the middle to open the leaf and you can use the gel directly from it. Apply it to your skin, but make sure you avoid the eyes. You will find that it really soothens the skin and reduces inflammations. Being a natural antibiotic, it clears the skin and kills the bacteria that lurks right there.
Oatmeal as an acne treatment – The oatmeal absorbs the oil and exfoliates the skin, which will then allow fresh skin to grow right in its place. To use it,
- Cook a single serving of regular oatmeal, just like when you want to eat it.
- Add approximately ΒΌ cup honey and mix the two thoroughly.
- Let the mixture cool down.
- While avoiding your eyes, apply some of the mixture to your face.
- Leave it on for 10-20 minutes after which wash your face with a gentle soap.
Tea tree oil as an acne remedy – This is a quite popular remedy for acne. Tea tree oil is an essential oil that is diluted and can be applied directly on the skin. Tea trea oil kills bacteria existing in your acne, so this is a very effective way to fight acne. However you need to dilute it before you use it topically. You should use a 5% tea trea oil to a 95% water concentration to be most effective, without causing any damage to your skin.
